Just got the “I’m here” call from JS! (Its only midnight…) Grandpa F. said they just got in; been “doing the town”!
JS said the flight was great, dinner at McD’s was great (they had Powerade!), and he’s having a lot of fun with Grandpa F. playing jokes back and forth.
Tomorrow, JS said Grandma L. is taking him to see Star Wars Episode III and Grandpa F. is taking him to see Batman Begins. I think I’ll have a spoiled boy by the time he comes home!
(Mostly, I’ll just glad to know he got there ok, and that they are having a good time!)
Fuul stayed up working on his final project for the Old Job all night; its still not quite finished.
EK hasn’t been sleeping well, or being very content this week; she’s still got two teeth budding and daily doses of steroids. Ugh.
GC has decided that she doesn’t like any rules; well, her rules are good, but none of the others, like the ones that say you go to bed at night, or pick up after yourself.
Fuul had train reservations to go to the new job intake meeting; he still didn’t get a rental car or hotel scheduled.

Fuul and I have spent more than 2hours now trying to figure out his transportation for his orientation meeting on Friday. Just when we think we have it all figured out, another piece falls apart. Its got to get easier!
Oh, what tangled webs we weave! (or something like that!)
This whole thing seems to have just exploded out of control. For example, this developer who is applying to exercise the new eminent domain ruling on the home of one of the ruling judges!
Could a hotel be built on the land owned by Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter? A new ruling by the Supreme Court which was supported by Justice Souter himself itself might allow it. A private developer is seeking to use this very law to build a hotel on Souter’s land.
The ruling only effects communities that don’t have overriding state ordinances. But, still.
What a world, huh?
Took EK to see the Otolaryngologist (ENT dr) on Monday after nearly 2 months wait.
She was taken right in, and the doctor checked her eyes, ears, mouth and nose, then listened to her breathing. (We kiddingly call her “Snort”, because that is the sound she makes when she breathes. ALL the TIME!)
The doctor squirted some numbing liquid into EK’s nose, then the nurse strapped her to a papoose board so the doctor could use her flexible viewer to see all the structures inside EK’s nose. Ewww!
The final result: all the spaces are open, but structurally, the space between her nose and throat is very short. This is not necessarily an “abnormality” but more a quirk of EK. (Sometimes think she could do with a few less quirks). There is some minor inflammation of the adenoids, which, given the limited availability of space, may be the culprit in the labored breathing.
If she were older (say, over 2 years), and not so tiny, the doctor said they would consider simply removing the adenoids. But, since neither of those scenarios is the case, we will first pursue medical intervention. This week, she is taking an oral steroid to see if we can decrease the inflammation. If that fails to work, we’ll try nasal steroids. If that doesn’t work? Well, I don’t know.
Hopefully, this first round of meds will do the trick, and EK will breathe fine, and we’ll have one less thing to figure out with her!

Its a little late to be breaking for lunch, but you do what you have to do. Spent the morning packing the kids’ rooms, and they are about done. The rest of the house? Not so much. Better take care of that, I suppose.
I’ve been busy, too, trying to figure out our schedule for the next week or so: JS will be flying out Thursday to spend a week with his grandma; Fuul has to be at the new house Friday for his orientation day at the new job, though we don’t know yet if he’ll be driving or flying; we need to rent another truck to move the rest of our stuff to the new house, but we’re not certain what day that will happen; my birthday is next week; and, I’m still TIRED! (But what else is new?)
I guess I should pick the next room to tackle and just go to it. Ugh. Not my idea of a good time!
(Anyone looking for something to do? wanna come sort and purge and pack? My friends here have put in their time, and are tired of it all now, I think!)
EK finally cut two teeth, at the ripe old age of 7 1/2 months! She’d been fussy and drooling for awhile now, and had developed swollen teething blisters on her bottom gums last week. Finally on Sunday (6/26), the blisters split and two sharp little teeth poked through! (the right one more than the left). We’ve not been able to get pics yet, but I’m sure they’ll be coming soon enough!

Pulled in at just after 2 this morning. Have to get Fuul to work & EK to her ENT appointment. Will update again when I’m awake and have more information.

We planned to load & drive Saturday, then unload Saturday evening and drive back Sunday; didn’t happen that way.
We only got a 17′ truck. and were sure we had enough stuff ready to go. Well, we had about 1/2 a trucks worth ready to go, so we spent Saturday til after midnight packing and loading the truck, so we didn’t wind up leaving until Sunday morning. (Ah, what a joy to get to do the whole trip in one day — Not!)
The plan (Ha!) was to get up at 5, leave by 6, & be home again at a decent hour. Well, we got up before 7, left by 9, and took about 5 hours to make the 4 hour trip - kids and a slow mileage truck can do that to you, I suppose!
We unloaded half the truck ourselves (by5) and then the kids complained of being too hungry to continue, so we took a break for dinner & to find the church. Funny: one call to the bishop, and 20 minutes later 8 guys were unloading our truck! 20 minutes after that, it was done! (We had hesitated calling because it was Sunday… wish now we had called earlier!)
So, the truck was dropped off by 1O-ish, and we’re on the road. Only 4 hours more to go.
*yawn*

That’s what we keep telling our realtor, and she acknowledges that every time she calls to ask if she can show it to another realtor. We finally broke down yesterday, and let them come look, in spite of the “boxes and piles” look we have going on. I nave no idea what they thought, but… they took pictures! Ack!
We’re trying to get a truck so we can load up a bunch of stuff and make a trip to the new house this weekend; who knew you needed to reserve a truck WEEKS in advance for such a project? If we could go on a weekday, it would work out better, but our weekdays are full until we are supposed to be at the new place fulltime. Somehow, its all going to work out. Right? RIGHT?
sigh.

In all the process of packing, I’ve come across things long-missing, many of which I didn’t even realize were missing! When I went through my sewing cabinet Wednesday, I found four undeveloped rolls of film! (Don’t ask why the purse they were in was shoved unceremoniously in the back of the cabinet — such is my life!) While the kids and I ran errands yesterday, we dropped them at the one-hour photo, and were rewarded with some fun memories!
Enjoy! (I know I did!)

…getting longer, in spite of the passage of the longest day of the year and the trip on into summer. I spend the day packing and sorting and making piles for donation and redistribution and just plain trash, and the workload doesn’t seem to diminish one whit. Fuul’s been talking about making a trip this weekend with a loaded truck; I know its the prudent choice, but… its not going very quickly. Case in point: I spent more than 3 hours tonight simply sorting and packing the entry closet! Granted, it is the repository of all the coats, gloves, and family games, but THREE HOURS? *sigh*
It’ll all be over soon, right? And I’ll be able to enjoy sitting with my baby and pursuing some pastime aside from in-depth cleaning?
And maybe I’ll find time to write about more than the miserable process of packing and moving!

Drove across town this evening to pickup AE from a friend’s house. Said friend loves out south of town in the pretty rolling hills, lots of trees, lots of huge homes, lots of nature.
So much nature, in fact, that we came this close to running into a deer! She came down the hill out of the dense brush, and stopped directly in the lane in front of us! We came to a dead stop, she stood & stared at us for 30 seconds, & the kids shrieked in excitement (except GC, who slept soundly through the entire ordeal)!!
Finally, the deer moved toward the far side of the road, & I began to inch forward, just in time to hit my brakes again as a speckled faun came out of the brush after his mother! More excited shrieks from the kids, more time sitting idling in the middle of a (thankfully) unbusy road.
The fawn took another 20 or so seconds staring at us and then moving across the road to follow his mother into the brush.
It was quite the unexpected yet exciting highlight of the evening! (Wish I’d had my camera with me!)
