I think Fuul is wrapping up his remote workday, I’m wrapping up packing things into the truck, then I think we are heading out for dinner and then for home. Hoping the kids sleep most of the drive, and that we miss most of the bad traffic! (Feel free to keep your fingers crossed for us!)
It’s been a nice weekend. Got some visiting done. Got some knitting done. Got some good baby-cuddling done. Got M a haircut. Kids played more Rock Band than they need to for the rest of the year… all in all, it was good!
See you when we’re home again!

I somehow forgot that, in order for us to run and visit family for the weekend…
…well, we need to pack. A lot. For little kids.
I remembered the laundry yesterday, but here I am only hours from needing to go, and I’ve not even written up the packing lists!
(Off to search my computer for the ‘basic’ list that I think I left on here last summer!)

I kept EK home from school this morning. Her ear is looking much better — almost no drainage anymore — but she had a croupy cough when she woke up. Of course, as soon as I called the school and transportation to let them know she’d be staying home, it all cleared up. Oh well. Better safe than sorry. She’s just as happy eating an apple and watching “The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat”.
I’ve got a bit of a cough today, as well, but its because of sinus something. Ugh. I have to get a metric tonne of laundry done today, get DA and JS to their Varsity wrestling end-of-season ice cream party, and AE to the Algebra Aptitude test tonight. Then, if all goes well, we’ll be off for Grandma and Grandpa’s house tomorrow afternoon! (We may be bringing dirty laundry if I don’t get in gear soon… oops!)
Maybe some warm soup for lunch will give me that last kick I need to get things going? I hope? And a bit of knitting wouldn’t hurt, either — working on a kimono sweater (#2) for a friend expecting twins, and a felted bag for a contest. Better hurry on both, as they both have deadlines!
March 25, 2008
Fuul and I took DS and EK to the doctor’s office yesterday — DS for stomach issues (now treated with Prevacid; hope that’s enough!) and EK for ear drainage. I’d kind of suspected an ear infection, but she hasn’t run a fever, and she has had a cold, and its normal with the tubes in her ears for them to drain regularly.
Well, unknown to me and according to the doctor we saw yesterday, when kids with tubes in their ears get infections, it often won’t manifest as a normal infection with fever and pain, because the infection can drain and doesn’t build up behind the ear drum.
So, she’s on antibiotic eardrops now, and we’re hoping it all clears up again soon!

We (finally!) got around to celebrating CC & DA’s birthdays tonight… double the presents, double the fun and excitement, only one cake with double the candles!
CC loved the cars he got… he kept asking for the ‘yellow car’ too… every present he got, he seemed to think it would hold that elusive yellow car! I suppose Zurg and the dinosaurs and the ride-on caterpillar will have to suffice!
DA walked away with some new pics and a Metallica tab book and a strap-mounted amp, a book, some new shirts, two different versions of Rubik’s cubes (16-per-side and a Sudoku version), and a new MP3 player. He said the only thing he missed was a new car and a valid drivers’ license. We laughed.
We had corned beef and cabbage for dinner (DA’s request, we missed it on Monday) and Crazy Chocolate Cake and chocolate sauce for the birthday — some with lime sherbet! They seemed to like it, but it just seemed wrong on so many levels!
Anyway, happy birthday, boys!
(And Grandma, if you’re reading, the kids all want to know where you got that recipe from… its a huge hit at our house!)
panicpanicnightmareanxioustensionstress….
not a fantastic morning, too much on the schedule, too tired, too lethargic, too done.
must. move.
March 18, 2008
As of late, my schedule is totally on the fritz. I can hardly get up in the mornings, will fall asleep again if I sit down for more than a few minutes, have to nap in the afternoon, am too tired to fix dinner, then can’t get to sleep at night until 2ish. Ugh. If I were young and single and childless it would be no problem. As it stands, the schedule just isn’t working out.
I had to up my meds about two months ago because of the winter weather making my anxiety worse (SADD-like), and the doctor said something about sleep then. I thought at the time he was asking about my sleep once I was alseep; now I think he was talking about the inability to stay awake. I need to figure out if I can readjust my meds again soon, or do something else to account for the sleepies.
In the meantime, not enough getting done, and too much asking the kids to cook dinner or Fuul to pick up take-out. Not good, either way.

I’ve managed to finish most the things I need to do today. I’ve not gotten the prescriptions filled yet, but will do that as soon as JS comes home to babysit. I didn’t get AE’s glasses fixed, but we found her old pair, and they will make due until we can get something else put together. I did pick up a couple of birthday things, and planned the others I still need to get. I bought corned beef and cabbage; will see if we do it tonight, or wait until tomorrow when we will all be home. I’ve finished the skirt on my duster, and have only the collar, buttons, and weaving in of ends left. Tried it on, and it fits great! (Love that I can mix sizes in handknits).
I’ve not done any writing for my class tonight, but I can’t concentrate enough to do any real writing this afternoon anyway; wound up with an earache, instead. Gah.
Anyway… going to go see if I can’t finish my sweater while I wait on JS getting home.
Happy, happy birthday! 14 years already!
March 16, 2008
Today: church, dinner, laundry, knitting (nearly finished the skirt on my Tilted Duster!), Fuul had to go in to work, DA taught his priesthood class, AE and GC went to choir practice, EK (who is recovering from a nasty face-plant at school on Friday that left her with a scabby goose-egg) got hit in the nose with the handle on the front door, AE broke her glasses while either wrestling with the other kids or spinning around and catching them on something (the jury is still out on which it was), and the kids Auntie A called to talk with them!
Tomorrow: DA’s birthday! Must fill prescriptions. Must buy milk. Must have AE’s glasses repaired. Must buy birthday presents. Must deposit rebate check. Must finish laundry. Must finish writing something. Must go to last writing class. Must remember that kids have only a half day of school. Must not get overwhelmed by all the musts!

Found this in the pot outside my front door this morning! I didn’t know I had any daffodil bulbs at all! (And I saw two tulips starting to come up as well… pretty shiny!)
March 13, 2008
At least I don’t think its a migraine now. Pretty sure its the dregs of this awful cold. I fell asleep after the kids got off to school this morning… Fuul asked me once where EK was, and I glanced at the clock and jumped and ran down the hall and out the front door, and barely caught the bus before it left again! That’s the first time I was late at all getting her off the bus, and she was not very happy… crying because the driver had put her back into her seatbelt!
Ack!
I’ve got to get over this sick thing, and get back to a real schedule!
At least I got shopping done, and have a plan for dinner. Maybe I’ll try to get some knitting done on my new sweater, to see if it won’t chill things out a bit!

(Keen Berkeley shoes, in black… oh, how I want some!!! And yes, I’ll admit to a full-blown shoe fetish! LOL)
