Fuul took all the older five kids camping last night at the church campout. Not sure what time they are planning to come home today.
He called yesterday when he was supposed to be home to tell me I needed to come get him because his car wouldn’t start again. (The fix-it place called this morning to let me know that the actuator is broken, and they can replace it by Monday. At least its only one work day we’ll be short a car again).
I got some Zyrtec yesterday to try out. (I tired Claritin a couple of years ago, and it knocked me out so I was completely out of commission!) So far so good.
EK and CC went to sleep well last night –for the most part. I got to lay down early. Unfortunately the little occasional back twinge I’ve been getting the past two days has blossomed into a full-blown tweak/pain/cramping across my lower back. (I’m hoping the Zyrtec isn’t exaggerating it; when I took Allegra a couple of years ago, it came with a mild continuous backache.)
And the good thing? At least I had no big plans for the day, and maybe I can just rest and let my back relax some? Maybe?
A month or so ago, Fuul’s department had opened up the floor for ideas for morale boosting activities. Fuul suggested go-kart racing. They picked his idea.
Today was the day that they went go-karting. Fuul made it through six or so races before he hit the wall. Consensus (ok, still no dr, but here at home) is that he’s likely cracked a couple of ribs. He’s not so much the happy camper tonight, needless to say….
Fun weekend. Family came to visit. Took in Indiana Jones and the kids/Grandpa/Dad went to see Speed Racer while my mom and I went yarn shopping…
Totally worth it, and had a good, relaxing visit.
Now, though, not so much. Panic/stress/crazies taking over. Want to sit and do nothing. Feel guilty for same. Too much on the schedule. No drive to do any of it.
And kids who are counting on a normal mom around the house.
I was filling bottles this a.m. with my wonderful-love-it-can’t-live-without-it instant hot water tap thingy, and I dropped a bottle into the sink, spilling everything. No problem. Retrieve the bottle, refill, turn to set it on the counter, slip and drop it again…
…but this time, all that hot water ran over my left hand.
Nothing is burned beyond the pink of a first-degree, but it hurts a lot… especially where the water clung around my rings and at the base of my thumb. But the whole thing hurts. Ugh.
I’ve been using aloe vera and lidocaine gel, then lidocaine spray, and wrapping it to keep it from rubbing on anything, and using generous amounts of ice, but owie!
(Fuul took me shopping to buy baby wipes and wrap for my hand, and let me pick out a cute pair of Skechers while we were there! Mary-Jane openness, and sequins! New shoes fix every pain, don’t you know!)
It seems as though I am going from one illness to the next, and its just draining me! Not to mention the energy that gets sucked out chasing CC — he is full on run-run-run all day, and he wears me out on a good day! (This is not bad, just tiring!)
I’ve recently done the stomach bug, a full-day migraine, and now I’ve got a sinus cold and allergies playing tag in my head. I treat symptoms as I can, but its never quite well!
While I was down and out with the migraine, we had sunny hot days — warm enough I had the A/C running! Fuul took the older kids to see “Iron Man” (except AE, who went to the beach with a friend instead) and I stayed home and knit while the little ones napped. When they came back from the movies, they’d gone to the store and bought a sprinkler toy, a blow-up pool and a water/sand play table! Needless to say the kids spent the weekend outside and mostly wet!
And finally yesterday, the heat broke, and last night the rain came back! Yeah! Wonderful high temp today will only be near 60 degrees! (If only the headache would have left with the heat)
Fuul and AE are getting ready for the school talent show, and Fuul can’t make it to the auditions tomorrow, so they filmed the performance tonight to use for the auditions.
(The lighting isn’t great, but you can hear it well).
It’s a quiet morning here, about to go crazy when I wake the kids and start the get-to-church mode going. Woohoo!
I have a nice little stack of made-at-school Mother’s Day gifts here waiting to be opened, and Fuul took me to Fry’s yesterday and got me a new laptop cooling thingy, an N-grade wireless card (I can pick up signal’s from Fuul’s workplace on this one!), and a 500Gb external backup hard drive! (Woohoo — don’t think its so strange: its what I asked for!)
But, hope its a wonderful day to all those Mom’s out there!
