January 28, 2009January 26, 2009the other shoeFuul just messaged me to let me know that his entire group has just been informed that because of all the problems, they have a new project leader (read: a new boss), and no one is getting their vacation time or days off or anything this week. So see? I was right not to hold my breath. Unfortunately. Just another week of not getting Fuul’s vacation time. (He’s still got more than 60 hours vacation time coming to him — or, 60 hours that aren’t on the books anymore, but his bosses know they owe to him, plus the time still on the books that they need to get to him.) Maybe he can just keep saving it up and take off next year? Because at this rate, it may just come to that. agaiiiinnnnso… another afternoon on another first day of another ’supposed to be’ week of vacation. Fuul’s vacation, that is. And where is Fuul? At work, of course. That, after he stayed up all night working on the project that was supposed to have gone live two weeks ago. Was supposed to have gone live last week. Was supposed to have gone live this morning. Its not live yet, and, obviously, he’s not on vacation yet. His bosses keep meaning to let him have his vacation time, but it just keeps not working out, and I’ve given up on him actually getting the time off. Maybe by summer? I did get CC to his OT appointment this morning, and to Target, and got the taxes filed, so the day’s not a total loss, but it certainly wasn’t a vacation day! January 22, 2009new?Fuul informed me today that there are some good news bits on the possible home-buying front… not going to list them all here, at the risk of jinxing them, but things are better than we thought they would be going into looking at buying, so we are going to look at a couple of homes this afternoon. If you’d like to wish us luck or keep us in your thoughts or prayers that the process moves well and quick and smooth, that would be shiny… I could use all the well and quck and smooth I can get right now! new?Fuul informed me today that there are some good news bits on the possible home-buying front… not going to list them all here, at the risk of jinxing them, but things are better than we thought they would be going into looking at buying, so we are going to look at a couple of homes this afternoon. January 20, 2009sock club, anyone? So, I signed up for a custom, music-based sock yarn club, because The club is Rock Your Socks Off, and Danido is offering the first 25 spaces at a discounted rate! Woohoo! There are also opportunities still to make suggestions about bands and colorways, and to win free yarn! And who isn’t up for that!? Go! Look! Sign up! (Drop my name! I could win more goodies, too! LOL) (I’ve purchased some of her yarns before, and can attest to the quality; can’t wait to see what she comes up with for the music-inspired stuff. Its all going to be surprises!) January 9, 2009educating a princessI just put EK on the school bus in jeans, tshirt, boots, a coat… and a Cinderella princess dress. (It was a compromise to get her out of the other princess dress she slept in last night. *sigh*) I was never going to be one of *those* moms. Funny how times (and the battles we choose to fight) change. January 7, 2009laundry colour scheme
January 6, 2009tuesday morningWind howls through the trees, evergreeen boles swaying treacherously over homes beneath the invisible onslaught, their limbs whipping wildly, some letting go their tenuous grip and flying haphazardly to the ground. Tiny drops of icy rain dance down the gusts, chilling any daring enough to brave the weather. The wind storm begins. Howling through the trees, January 5, 2009kids are home!It started snowing as I left the driveway to go to the airport. Was coming down pretty hard by the time I got there. Once I was through the lines and security, the runways were white with snow. Some planes were being diverted to other airports because it was unsafe to land and visibility was so low. Luckily, GC and DS were able to land (only 1 1/2 hours late). We got their luggage — snow-covered and wet — after waiting for a back up at the luggage carousels also caused by the weather, and some confusion about what the loaner suitcase from Grandma actually looked like (it was brown, not black like they told Mom — oops!). So. Home. In bed. Hoping that school runs on a delayed schedule at least in the morning so I can sleep in. Seminary has already been cancelled — DA is thrilled, since he’s done nothing to readjust to real-life sleep schedules. OK, none of us have done anything to adjust. And now I’m off to fall into bed as well. That alarm is going to go off early in the morning! January 1, 2009goodbye, 2008 |
